The Standard
The A0 scale is being added as part of a legislative change to demonstrate buildings that meet the stringent ZEB standard.
A0 is a new top category for homes that are highly energy‑efficient and do not use fossil fuels.
It recognises the best‑performing buildings in Ireland’s housing stock.
This will be a highly sought after standard for house builders and buyers.
The New BER Scale
Reducing the overall scale from A0 to G makes a more impactful but simpler presentation of the Grades.
This will be consistent across the EU
Renovation Passport
Renovation Passport
In addition to the introduction of the A0 standard for new buildings a new Renovation Passport is being introduced to provide clearer information for homeowners when considering upgrades and to capture the upgrades in a digital locker for future reference.
